Ukraine`s leading sunflower oil producer Kernel KERN.WA bought a large Transbulk grain export terminal in the Black Sea port of Iliychivsk, the company said on Wednesday. "The Transbalk terminal is under full operational control of Kernel Holding S.A. as of 30 June, 2008," the company said on its web site www-us.kernel.ua, according to Reuters.

It said the cash consideration was $100 million.

Ukraine`s second largest grain terminal has a loading capacity of up to 4.5 million tonnes of grain per year and it can store 200,000 tonnes. The terminal is capable of loading Panamax-size vessels.

Ukraine operates more than 20 sea and river ports, which can export more than 25 million tonnes of grain per year and have storage capacities of about 1.6 million tonnes.

Ukraine plans to export 14-16 million tonnes of grain in 2008/09 compared with 3.6 million in 2007/08.
