Agricultural Policy Minister of Ukraine Yuri Melnyk is confident that this year’s harvest in the country will make up more than the forecasted 40.4 million tons.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, he claimed this to a press conference in Kyiv today.

Yuri Melnyk noted that a special session will be held with regional leadership on Thursday, July 17, to specify the harvest forecast. After the session the Minister expects to get specified data about the harvest forecast.

“I’m confident that the current figure of 40.4 million tons will be improved”, Yuri Melnyk claimed.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in 2007 the harvest in Ukraine made 29.3 million tons.
