President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko has begun climbing the Ukraine’s highest mountain – Hoverla (2061 m) in the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast today.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, the climbing began at 9.00 a.m..

Nearly a thousand of participants are climbing the mountain together with the President. In particular, Oblast governors, delegations from 27 regions of Ukraine each including up to 20 people, members of parliament, ministers, political parties leaders, take part in the climbing.

At the mountain, Victor Yushchenko will open a new sculpture complex “Tryzub”, a marble stele, containing capsules with ground from all regions of Ukraine, and will fly the national flag.

Ukrainian symbols, established at Hoverla mountain, will be of state importance.
