Verkhovna Rada adopted amendments to state budget-2008

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted the Law on Introducing Amendments into state budget’2008, stipulating an increase of expenditures by 5.802 billion  hryvnias.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, 441 MPs have voted for the law.

At the same time, lawmakers removed the provision on granting state guarantees to Ukravtodor [State Highways Department] at 24.3 billion hryvnias for attracting credits on restoring its infrastructure.

Besides, lawmakers refused to change the manager of budget funds. In line with the newly adopted law, the budget funds will be administrated by local executive power bodies.

MPs also supported the provision on increasing excise duties on alcohol and tobacco, as it was proposed by the government.
