The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, during its meeting on Wednesday, decided to allocate additional UAH 42 million from its reserve fund to help the regions that were hit by the flood on July 23-27, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko said, according to the government’s press-office. "This UAH 42 million has already been sent to the regions and will be used by local authorities," she said, adding that the funds will be spent on the reconstruction of schools, hospitals, gas networks, water supply systems, as well as housing and communal facilities.

At the same time, Tymoshenko also pointed to four decisions taken by the government on the natural disaster in Ukraine`s western regions.

She said that the Cabinet of Ministers had facilitated the mechanism for assessing the property of citizens. According to the premier, the government also took a decision on compensations to citizens with damaged rural economies. "We have foreseen the mechanism for establishing the damage and paying compensations for household facilities," Tymoshenko said.

She also stressed easier tender procedures for the construction and reconstruction of roads.

In addition, the premier said that the government had allowed Ukravtodor spending money not only for the roads of national importance, but also for communal roads in the flood-hit regions.
