33.5 million tons of grain have been harvested in Ukraine from 75% of areas under crops.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko claimed this to a government’s session today.
“Through all years of Ukraine’s independence, we have never had such a yield of crops, and, secondly, we have never had such a crop capacity. Today, when we processed 75% of areas under crops, we received a yield at 33.5 million tons. But the most important thing is that the crop capacity of wheat is an absolute record compared to all previous years – 36.7 center per hectare”, Yulia Tymoshenko said.
At the same time, the Prime Minister noted that, by preliminary estimates of the Finance Ministry of Ukraine, the total losses of the agricultural sector from the natural disaster in the Western Ukraine make up 230.5 million hryvnias.
“According to preliminary information, 52.8 thousand hectares of area under crops were destroyed. The biggest losses were recorded in the Ternopil and Ivano-Frankivsk Oblasts – 14.2 and 13.9 thousand hectares respectively”, Yulia Tymoshenko said.
