Presidential Secretariat forecasts deflation in August

The Secretariat of the Ukrainian President forecasts a delfation in August, and an inflation at 18% on results of the year 2008.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, top deputy President’s Chief of Staff Oleksander Shlapak claimed this to a news conference on Thursday.

“We have all opportunities to receive a deflation in August”, O.Shlapak said.

At the same time, he noted that the annual inflation showing will most probably exceed the government’s forecast [15.3% on results of 2008], and will make around 18%.

As UNIAN reported earlier, a deflation at 0.5% was recorded in Ukraine in July.
