Ukraine to create military police
The Strategic Defense Bulletin, which has been enacted by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, foresees the creation of military police in Ukraine.
The military police will be set up on the basis of the military law enforcement units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which will undergo reorganization, reads the Strategic Defense Bulletin, posted on the president's official website.
The general structure and major functions of the military police, including pre-trial investigation into crimes committed by servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, will be legislatively stipulated. The military police will be also authorized to conduct search and surveillance activity.
