Yushchenko to deliver speech at Maydan Nezalezhnosti

On August 24, the Ukrainian Independence Day

President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko will speak at Maydan Nezalezhnosti [the central square of Kyiv] on August 24, the Ukrainian Independence Day.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, President’s Press Secretary Iryna Vannikova claimed this to a briefing for mass media on Monday.

In particular, I.Vannikova informed that the Independence Day celebrations will start at 9.00 a.m. with a prayer “For Ukraine and Ukrainian Nation” near the St.Sofia Cathedral in Kyiv. The President will take part in the prayer together with representatives of all Churches of Ukraine.

At 10.00 a.m. the National Flag of Ukraine will be lifted at Maydan Nezalezhnosti, after which a military parade will begin.

The speech of the Ukrainian President is scheduled for 10.20 a.m.. The official beginning of the military parade is scheduled for 10.35 a.m..
