As of today, more than 168 thousand 813 witnesses of the Holodomor of 1932-33 live in Ukraine.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Ivan Vassyunyk claimed this in Kyiv on Thursday speaking to participants of the IX World Congress of Ukrainians.
On the whole, according to I.Vassyunyk, 1 million 416 thousand people aged over 80 years old live now in Ukraine.
Comparing this figure with the number of live witnesses of Holodomor, I.Vassyunyk said: “It is probably a big figure, and, probably, a small one”.
“It is a big and a small [figure], because lives of these people are very precious and important for Ukraine from the point of recording the truth about the genocide of the Ukrainian nation in 30ies of the last century”, he said.
