Yushchenko honors famous embroiderer

Victor Yushchenko has conferred a Hero of Ukraine title on Vira Royik, Ukraine’s famous embroiderer, according to the President’s press-office.

      He presented the award to the artist in his Crimean summer residence. Then Ms. Royik gave him a rushnik (embroidered towel) and a book she wrote in 2003.

      She also asked the President to help her open an exposition of her works. Mr. Yushchenko commissioned his Crimean representative, Gennadiy Moskal, to help her resolve this problem.
