President meets with Environment Minister

President Victor Yushchenko held a meeting with Minister for Environment Georgiy Filipchuk. At the meeting sides discussed reorganization of Ukrainian forestry, according to the President`s press-office.

Speaking about importance of forests in Ukrainian economy President first of all said that they are important factor in floods prevention. Therefore, according to the opinion he expressed to the Minister, it is crucial to improve prevention of illegal forests’ cutting, especially in the regions that were damaged byJuly 23-27 floods.

Besides, according to President, forests are important ecological and economic resource, therefore it is important to organize Ukrainian forestry rationally.
