Harvest of spring grains and legumes will total about 30 mln tonnes in Ukraine in 2006/07 MY, according to APK-Inform. This forecast was announced by the first Deputy-Minister of Agrarian Policy, Boris Supikhanov, during the exhibition "All-Ukrainian day of field-2006" in Dnepropetrovsk on August, 21.
At the same time according to him, harvest of winter grains gives concern due to unfavourable weather conditions (heat). He stressed that before they had estimated maize harvest at 7.5-8 mln tonnes. But now it is early to tell something about the crop because of the existent heat.
Also, he informed that Ministry would revise the methods of State subsidies allocation to agricultural producers.
It should be mentioned that according to the last forecast of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy gross harvest of all grains and legumes (including maize) will total about 38 mln tonnes in the current year.
According to the operative data, as of the 18th of August in Ukraine 27.86 mln tonnes of spring grains and legumes were harvested from 1096 mln ha acreage (90% from the total area), including 14 mln tonnes of wheat, 12 mln tonnes of barlet, 713.000 tonnes of peas and 554.000 tonnes of rape.
