President honors famine victims
Ukraine survived genocide famine in 1932-33
Victor Yushchenko has laid flowers on the memorial to the 1932-33 genocide famine victims in Kyiv’s St. Michael Square, according to the President’s press-office.
Verkhovna Rada Speaker Oleksandr Moroz, Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych, Secretariat Chief of Staff Oleh Rybachuk, First Deputy Chie of Staff Ivan Vasyunyk, Kyiv Governor Vira Ulyanchenko, Kyiv Council Secretary Oles Doniy, parliamentarians, church leaders and other officials attended the ceremony.
They lit candles near the memorial and observed one minute of silence to honor the victims.
