European Bank for Development and Reconstruction EBRD has appointed André Küüsvek to be in charge of the bank’s investments in Ukraine, according to The Baltic Business Times.

Eesti Päevaleht writes that this is a huge responsibility since Küüsvek would be responsible for overseeing investments of more than half of Estonia’s budget.

Küüsvek said that he has gained valuable experience when working for EBRD in Kazakhstan.

“EBRD has the biggest investment portfolio in Russia, and Ukraine is its second largest investment destination. “This year EBRD plans to invest another 16.5 billion kroons in Ukraine,” said Küüsvek.

The Estonian said that he will personally be involved in making investment decisions. “So it is very much my head on the line,” he said.

EBRD says that it has made 72 percent of its investments in the Ukraine private sector.

41-year-old Küüsvek urged Estonian businesses that already do business in Ukraine to look him up and discuss possible investment projects.
