In 2007, the Defense Ministry of Ukraine expects to receive financing at 2% of GDP, or 12 billion hryvnias.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, journalists were told about this by deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Boyko.
He noted that Defense Minister Anatoliy Hrytsenko reported about this to President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko. According to V.Boyko, presently the defense budget for the next year is being considered in the Cabinet of Ministers.
“So far we have reached an understanding that these 12 bln hryvnias be envisioned in the next year budget”, he said, adding that it is up to the Verkhovna Rada to make the final decision.
V.Boyko assured that this amount will be enough to carry out a planned upgrading and repairs of ammunition and military machinery, as well as to solve social issues.
