Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko on Monday proposed the creation of a stabilisation fund to buy key enterprises and banks in conditions of financial crisis, Reuters reported.

"I hereby propose an initiative to create a state stabilisation fund," Yushchenko was shown on live television telling a session of Ukraine`s National Security and Defence Council devoted to meeting the effects of the world financial crisis on the country.

"It is not ruled out that resources from this fund could be used to buy enterprises deemed critical to the economy, including commercial banks."
