In Baku President Victor Yushchenko met with the United States Secretary of Energy Samuel Bodman, according to the President`s press-office.
Sides have discussed energy cooperation between Ukraine and the USA.
President Yushchenko stressed that Ukrainian side is highly interested in cooperation with the USA in energy field, particularly in investment, nuclear energy, oil and gas extraction, energy saving technologies, alternative energy sources.
He also said that Ukraine hopes for further support from the US government of our energy policy, particularly in diversification of energy resources supply and delivery.
Beside that President said that Ukraine is interested in beginning of trilateral consultations on energy security issues in ‘Ukraine-USA-EU’ format.
From his part Samuel Bodman stressed interest of American side in deepening cooperation with ‘Sarmatia’ joint venture. He also added that energy cooperation with Ukraine would remains topical for the US after formation of the new government.
