The European Union is "pretty confident" Russia and Ukraine will resolve their fresh gas dispute, the bloc`s envoy to Russia told Reuters in an interview on Friday.
"We have expressed... our confidence that they will find a solution and that the gas supply to the European Union will not be disrupted," Marc Franco said.
A `gas OPEC` could have a positive impact for Europe, he said, adding that a cooperation of gas producers, if it does not fix prices, could influence market security for the better.

Franco added that the Nord Stream pipeline remained a very important project for the EU, though Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects were also welcome.
