As of today, nearly 70% of Ukrainians live behind the poverty line.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, Verkhovna Rada Commissioner Nina Karpachova claimed this at the parliamentary hearing “On State of Observation of Constitutional Guarantees on Labor Human Rights”.

According to her, namely 70% of the Ukrainian population live at not more than $3 per day, by criteria of the World Bank.

Besides, N.Karpachova noted, half a million of workers receive salaries lower than the living wage.

According to the Human Rights Commissioner, 7 thousand employees are sacked every day in Ukraine at present.

“By all showings, Ukraine is a country of poor folk”, N.Karpachova said.
