Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko demands President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko to immediately sack Volodymyr Stelmakh from post of the central bank head as the c.bank conitnues the policy aimed at hryvnia devaluation.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, Yulia Tymoshenko claimed this to a news conference in the Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday.
“C.bank head Volodymyr Stelmakh continues to destroy hryvnia with illogical interventions in the currency market. Namely because of that, I demand the President to immediately sack c.bank head Stelmakh, to sack him immediately”, Yulia Tymoshenko said.
The Prime Minister is confident that if Victor Yushchenko does not respond to her demand, he will be personally responsible for the currency exchange policy.
Yulia Tymoshenko believes that if the central bank head is replaced, it will stabilize the hryvnia’s value to 6 – 6.5 hryvnias vs $1. The Prime Minister called on all participants of the currency market to not take part in “panics and hysteria imposed by them [the President of Ukraine and the central bank - UNIAN]”.
