President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko has made decision to break off his normal work day and to travel to Evpatoria to supervise the rescue effort, according to the President`s press-office.

As UNIAN reported earlier, at least eleven people, including a child, have died after an explosion tore through an apartment building in southern Ukraine. Emergency Situations Ministry spokesman Igor Krol says the Wednesday evening blast leveled part of the five-floor building in the city of Yevpatoriya, a Crimea peninsula resort. Krol said Thursday a gas leak was the suspected cause, and 35 apartments were destroyed. 20 people have been rescued, five of them have been hospitalized.
