By preliminary conclusions of experts

According to preliminary conclusions of experts, the explosion that tore through an apartment in Yevpatoriya was not caused by a gas leak.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko claimed this to journalists in the Symferopol airport.

The Prime Minister was informed about that during a session, which she held with the Crimean leadership in the airport.

“By preliminary conclusions of experts, the blast was caused not by a gas leak. The final answer to this question will be given when rescuers will sift through the rubble and go to the basement to see what exactly balloons exploded there”, the Prime Minister said.

According to the information of Yulia Tymoshenko, more than 500 rescuers were involved in rescue works.

As UNIAN reported earlier, nineteen people, including a child, have died after an explosion tore through an apartment building in southern Ukraine. The Wednesday evening blast leveled part of the five-floor building in the city of Yevpatoriya, a Crimea peninsula resort. 35 apartments were destroyed. 21 people have been rescued, five of them have been hospitalized.
