President Victor Yushchenko wrote a letter to Internal Minister Yuriy Lutsenko drawing his attention to situation with mandatory drivers` liability insurance, according to the President`s press-office.
Based on information provided to him by the Ukrainian Insurance Federation, President pointed to the fact that despite the Law of Ukraine on mandatory drivers` liability insurance has been in force for four years now and traffic control bodies had all conditions for revealing the uninsured drivers, the amount of insured vehicles is still less than 50 percent.
"Absence of sufficient supervision over drivers having valid liability insurance policies threatens proper functioning of globally approved mechanism of damages coverage and leads to negative economic and social tendencies", - said Victor Yushchenko in the letter.
