President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko will not allow any extremely cheap sale of Ukrainian strategic objects, including Ukrtelecom OJSC.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, Roman Zhukovskiy, head of the main department for social-economical development at the Ukrainian Presidential Secretariat, said this to a press conference on Tuesday.

The Presidential Secretariat representative once again criticized the government’s budget policy. According to him, they are alarmed with the government’s intent to quickly sell country’s strategic objects in this complicated period.

“The President will not allow any extremely inexpensive sale of the state strategic objects in order to, in fact, cover the inefficient budget policy, without introducing amendments into the budget”, R.Zhukovskiy said.

He also stressed the necessity of introducing amendments into the state budget.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Transport and Communication Minister of Ukraine Yosyp Vinskiy disclosed to journalists on February 4 that Ukraine plans to carry out privatization of Ukrtelecom OJSC as early as in March of the current year.

Ukrtelecom OJSC is a leading national communication operator. It is a monopolist at the market of fixed local communication, occupies more than 80% of the market and has more than 10 million subscribers.
