The Verkhovna Rada may forbid the external and television advertising of tobacco and alcohol.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, in particular, today VR adopted in the first reading draft laws on introducing amendments into the Law of Ukraine “On Advertising”, proposed by Mykola Tomenko (BYT) and Borys Bespaly (Our Ukraine).
The draft law was supported by 399 out of 422 lawmakers, registered in the chamber. During preparing to the second reading these draft laws will be united into a single document.
In particular, the draft law of M.Tomenko proposes to forbid external advertising of tobacco and alcohol (on the so-called big-boards). In particular, he proposes to forbid the advertising of tobacco since 1 January 2007, and alcohol – since 2008.
The draft law of B.Bespaly is stricter. He proposes to forbid the advertising on television, and to apply for the tobacco and alcohol advertising the standards of the advertising of weapons, that is, to launch a system of special permits, and to allow the advertising only at special exhibitions, special measures, and special editions.
