Ukrainians adopted 480 children in Q1 of 2009

According to the information of the State Department for Adoption and Protection of Children Rights of Ukraine, Ukrainians adopted 480 children in the first quarter of the year 2009.

According to the information of the department, it is by 20% more than during the corresponding period of the last year, when Ukrainians adopted 404 children.

On the whole, 934 children were adopted during the first three months of the year 2009, out of them 454 children were adopted by foreigners.

As of January 1, 2009, nearly 32 thousand children in Ukraine were recorded in the central adoption register. Out of them, 28 thousand 438 children are aged 5-18 years old.
