Iryna Herashchenko was appointed as the president of UNIAN news agency.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, today UNIAN director general Oleh Nalyvayko introduced the newly-appointed news agency’s president to the collective. He noted that UNIAN shareholders introduced the new post in the management structure.
Commenting on her appointment, I.Herashchenko stressed that her main objective will be “to strengthen the structure, to expand and increase the number of subscribers, to launch a series of new informational products, new projects, and also to bring UNIAN to the leading positions in the Ukrainian informational space”.
According to the news agency’s president, she “will apply her professional experience for strengthening the positions of the agency under conditions of growing competitiveness in the media-sphere, so that UNIAN subscribers feel the new high quality”.
“I’m glad to return to the journalist workshop again”, she said, having recalled that she has always observed the principles of freedom of speech, unbiased information, high journalist standards, and professionalism.
I.Herashchenko stressed that there will be no staff shifts in the agency’s management. “We will work as a single team”, she said.
UNIAN note. Till 2001 Iryna Herashchenko worked as chief of the politics department of UNIAN television, during 2002-2004 – as spokes person of opposition front-runner Victor Yushchenko, during 2005 – September 2006 – as Press Secretary of President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko.
