Ukraine’s government is drafting a resolution to give state-run energy company NAK Naftogaz Ukrainy control over the country’s natural gas distribution network, Bloomberg reported, referring to Zerkalo Nedeli weekly, citing an unidentified official.

Ukrainian businessman Dmitry Firtash and companies affiliated with him control more than 70 percent of local gas distributors, Zerkalo Nedeli cited Firtash as saying.

Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and her Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin agreed in January to remove Swiss-registered RosUkrEnergo AG, in which Firtash controls 45 percent, as an intermediary in gas supply contracts between the two countries.
