Ukraine is currently not pumping Russian gas into its storage facilities to supply European markets next winter, Alexander Ananenkov, deputy chief executive of Russia`s state-controlled gas firm OAO Gazprom ( GAZP.RS), said Tuesday, Dow Jones reported.

"Ukraine isn`t pumping gas into its gas storage facilities in due amounts," Ananenkov said.

Gazprom supplies a quarter of Europe`s gas needs, of which 80% is shipped through Ukraine. Traditionally, Ukraine has stored gas in the western part of the country during the summer for export to Europe during the winter.
