Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko claims that the total internal debt on gas payments to Naftohaz Ukrayiny NJSC makes 26 billion hryvnias [~$3.5 billion], including a 7.7 billion hryvnias [~$1 billion] debt of communal companies.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, Yulia Tymoshenko said this at a session with governors devoted to the issues of payment for the consumed gas.
“How the government and Naftohaz may play such extraordinary tricks with gas payments to Russia, when the whole country owes 26 billion hryvnias for gas – these are the money, with which we could pay for the gas consumed during a whole year?”, Yulia Tymoshenko emphasized.
The Prime Minister believes that the situation with internal payments for gas is extraordinary, complicated, tense, and dangerous. “Every month the debts are growing, accumulating, and turning into a real tragedy for the country”, she added.
Yulia Tymoshenko stressed that today none of the session participants will leave the room until they find a decision and mechanisms to pay out the debts to Naftohaz Ukrayiny.
