Ukrainian women paid 1/3 less than men

Salaries of Ukrainian women are almost one-third smaller than salaries of men, says a State Statistics Committee report entitled “Equal Rights and Possibilities in Ukraine: Reality and Prospects”, according to Itar-Tass.

      The report was released at parliamentary hearings on Tuesday.

      An average monthly salary of Ukrainian men was $224 in the first half of this year, while women earned only $162 – 72.5% of a male salary.

      Women make up 56% of skilled personnel, but their chances for promotion are slim.
