Prime Minister of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych held a meeting with a delegation of the U.S. Millennium Challenge Corporation, according to the press-office of the Cabinet of Ministers.
The Head of Government called the visit of the Corporation representatives to Ukraine a logic continuation of cooperation which had been started last year.
The meeting concerned the beginning of implementation of the struggle against corruption program. The practical beginning of cooperation has been discussed. “The Ukrainian side is ready to listen to the Corporation proposals on further joint action on the program implementation”, the Prime Minister noted.
First of all, you must believe that we are reliable and responsible partners but it can be reached only in the process of joint action”, Viktor Yanukovych stressed at the meeting.
Besides, it is necessary to attract scientific intellectuals, business leaders and local leaders to the implementation of the Corporation program. Or, in other words – the leaders of influence, to use their ideas in our cooperation, the Head of Ukrainian Government said.
Viktor Yanukovych said that the Government would be an executor of the Millennium Challenge Corporation program, according to the agreements with the Head of State.
The Ukrainian PM noted that the first cooperation program with the Millennium Challenge Corporation is scheduled for two years and aims at struggle against corruption. Viktor Yanukovych is sure that positive results will be achieved in this direction.
“We know perfectly well that the problem of struggle against corruption exists at various levels of public administration, the Head of Government noted. And it is necessary to use economic methods for overcoming this negative phenomenon. Ukraine shall gain world experience”.
I hope, the Millennium Challenge Corporation will help us in it, Viktor Yanukovych stressed.
