As of 1 January 2007, the number of the Ukrainian population made up 46 million 646 thousand people.
UNIAN was told about this at the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine.
In particular, 33 million 777 thousand 400 people live in cities, and 14 million 868 thousand 600 people – in the countryside of Ukraine.
According to the information of the Committee, the biggest number of the population was recorded in the Donetsk Oblast – 4580.6 thousand people, the Dnipropetrivsk Oblast – 3422.9 thousand people, the Kharkiv Oblast – 2812.1 thousand people, the Lviv Oblast – 2568.4 thousand people, the Odessa Oblast – 2395.5 thousand people, the Luhansk Oblast – 2381.9 thousand people, and the city of Kyiv – 2718.1 thousand people.
At the same time, the least number of population was registered in the Chernivtsi Oblast – 906.3 thousand people, the Volyn Oblast – 1038.0 thousand people, the Kirovohrad Oblast – 1053.1 thousand people, and the city of Sevastopol – 379.2 thousand people.
