Ukraine Independence Monument at Maydan Nezhalezhnosti can tumble down, chief of the Main Department of Protection of Cultural Heritage Ruslan Kuharenko warns Kyiv citizens. “It looks solid, but there are metal constructions inside it, which become rusty. There is a very bad drain there, it is necessary to broaden it…”, he said. In spite of the fact that money for repair (UAH 500 thousand) is provided in the budget it has not been assigned yet, “Segodnya” reports.
However, author of the monument Anatoliy Kushch does not believe that things are in a so bad way with the monument: “It seems to me it is impossible, it has 100 -year warranty!”
