President asks PM to help Ukrainian book publishers
The President criticized the government for failing to promote Ukrainian language
Victor Yushchenko sent a letter to Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych on Wednesday with a request to help Ukrainian book publishers resolve their problems, according to the President`s press-office.
“I expect the government of Ukraine to create effective mechanisms ensuring the dynamic development of the book publishing industry and its full revival” he said.
The President criticized the government for failing to execute his decree aimed at developing the industry. He added that the cabinet was not spending enough on the programs to promote the Ukrainian language and support publishers.
“I hope we will make the nation rediscover books as a source of intellectual and spiritual growth during the Ukrainian Book Year,” he said.
