Yatseniuk hopes Ukraine to become WTO member this year
"It will be almost like the Second Advent", he said
Foreign Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatseniuk hopes that Ukraine will become a member of the World Trade Organization till the end of the current year.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, the Minister said this today, speaking to students and professors of the Institute of Foreign Relations.
“Let us hope that till the end of the current year a miracle will come true – it will be almost like the Second Advent, when Ukraine joins WTO, because, as of today, 150 countries are WTO members, except for such as Ukraine, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan”, the Minister said.
A.Yatseniuk recalled that the process of Ukraine’s entering WTO has been lasting for 14 years already. “It is already a paradox, a laughingstock. During this period I have managed to finish my education and become a Minister for two or three times”, he added.
He pointed out that Ukraine has completed talks on signing market access protocols with all the WTO member countries, except Kirghizia.
