Regular rotation of Ukrainian peacemakers in Liberia begins today
98 peacemakers leave for Liberia this evening
The regular, seventh, rotation of the staff and battle hardware of the 56th detached helicopter squadron of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, fulfilling asks of the UN Mission in Liberia, begins today.
According to the press-service of the Defense Ministry, the first group of Ukrainian peacemakers, including 98 people, will leave by a Tu-154 jet for the African continent from Mykolayiv this evening.
The rotation will involve five stages. During three stages, the Ukrainian peacemaking personnel, including 300 military men, will be replaced, and during the fourth and the fifth stage, 2 Mi-8MT and 6 Mi-24 helicopters will be replaced.
The 56th detached helicopter squadron of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has been fulfilling tasks of the UN Mission in Liberia since January of 2004.
