An explosion has destroyed a 30-metre section of a gas pipeline crossing Ukraine, stopping the flow of Russian gas to Europe, the Emergencies Ministry said on Monday, according to Reuters.
"There was a powerful explosion that destroyed 30 metres of the pipeline. There are no casualties and no threat to local residents," ministry spokesman Oleskander Trigub said by telephone.
