The reason of explosion on May 18 on rockets and ammunition’s base #275 was a projectile of caliber 203 mm, which was damaged during the explosions in 2004-2006, according to an UNIAN correspondent.
This is a preliminary conclusion of a special committee that investigates the accident, in consequence of which two pyrotechnics specialists died and one Emergency Ministry pyrotechnics specialist was injured.
Emergency Ministry emphasizes it is impossible to guarantee elimination of local explosions on the technical area, where the explosions happened.
Meanwhile the Ministry says there is no danger for people of Novobohdanivka and Spaske villages. Everybody can use Melitopol area highways to go to Black and Azov Sea’s resorts.
As UNIAN reported earlier, fire and explosions happened for the last three years: in May 2004, July 2005, and August 2006. Consequently, 5 people died, more than 10 people were injured. In whole, the area of 150 hectares must be cleaned up.
