Today Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Viktor Slauta hold a meeting with leaders of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, Ministry of Economy, State Reserve Committee, Agrarian Fund, “Khlib Ukrainy” state stock company during which condition for forming state food reserve of the 2007 harvest had been discussed, according to the government’s press-office.
“The Government has created all necessary conditions for efficient work of grain market and ensuring food safety of the state. Today, on implementation of the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on immediate measures aiming at reducing negative impact of drought we have approved amendments to the Order on using the 2007 funds envisaged by the state budget for financial support of agricultural enterprises through reduction of prices mechanisms of short-term and medium-term credits. This decision was adopted at extraordinary sitting of the Government committee,” the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine said.
According to Viktor Slauta, these amendments mean to compensate interest rate of short-term and medium-term credits in national currency attracted by agricultural enterprises which have suffered from drought this year and the 2005-2006 transition credits at the rate stipulated by credit agreements but not exceeding double discount rate of the National Bank.
The Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine obliged participants of the meeting to coordinate their work and spare no effort for creating state food reserve and providing the citizens’ needs in bread and grain products.
