Today Ukrainian Orthodox Chirtians celebrate the day of Saint Petro and Pavlo Apostles and the termination of Petro’s fasting - Petrivka.

It is one out of the five main church holidays. In addition, the fasting, which started a week after Trinity holiday, terminates today.

It is customary to visit relatives and friends, and treat them with fish dishes. People used to clean the farmstead, whitewashed and colored houses, hung up clear towels. Besides, they used to go to divine services with flowers and wreaths, which were decorated with red poppies. The obligatory dish was a flat cake from the wheaten dough - so-called mandrills.
