The social policy department of the presidential secretariat will recommend that President Victor Yushchenko veto next year’s budget if it does not include his social plans, Pavlo Rozenko, head of the social policy department, told a news conference on Wednesday, according to the President`s press-office.

“It seems that the government has chosen not to notice anything said by the president of Ukraine,” he said.

Rozenko said it was incumbent on the cabinet of ministers to make sure there is enough money in the budget and added that President Yushchenko had sent a letter to Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych with a request to consider his ideas aimed at improving the country`s social policies when drafting the 2008 budget.
