President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko ordered the Prosecutor’s General Office of Ukraine to study whether there are signs of corruption in the price policy of Naftohaz Ukrayiny NJSC in the sphere of gas supplies to communal enterprises.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, he claimed this today presenting his anti-corruption initiatives at the coordinating session of law-enforcement agencies chiefs.
“I demand the Prosecutor’s General Office to investigate what is taking place in the gas sphere from the point of view of prices policy for the communal economy. I asked to do this within a week”, Victor Yushchenko said.
He stressed that, in particular, due to the presence of intermediaries at the market, the gas is sold to communal enterprises at $143 for 1 thousand cubic meters, and not $95, as it is determined with government’s decrees.
