Top Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, Finance Minister Mykola Azarov advices the Presidential Secretariat not to intermingle into the talks between Ukraine and Russia concerning the Russian gas price in 2008.

He claimed this in an interview to journalists today, commenting on the statement of Presidential Secretariat representatives, who noted that should the Russian gas price grow, Ukraine will raise the question of increasing tariffs on the gas transit through its territory.

“I advice not to hamper the government to carry out talks with Russia on gas”, M.Azarov stressed. He added that the Presidential Secretariat must become busy with its own affairs, which are clearly set out by the legislation. “We will agree the gas price, as well as the transit tariffs, with Russia without any Presidential Secretariat”, M.Azarov pointed out.
