At least six people were injured in summer storms that hit Ukraine`s northern regions, emergency authorities said Tuesday, according to Xinhua.

According to the Emergencies Ministry, at least five people were injured and nine cars damaged Monday after dozens of trees were blown down by gusty winds in the capital city Kiev.

Meanwhile, the ministry said one person was injured and more than 150 houses were damaged in northern Chernigov region. Some electric poles fell, causing a blackout in 57 villages in the region.

Power outages also occurred in central Cherkassy region and western Ivano-Frankovsk and Lvov regions, but there were no reports of causalities.

Many neighborhoods across the country were left without power as of Tuesday morning, the ministry added.

Authorities gave no figures of economic losses caused by the storms. According to forecasts by the Ukrainian Hydro meteorological Center, the weather would remain rainy and windy this week in Ukraine.
