During the sitting Minister for Emergency Situations N. Shufrych reported on the explosion liquidation process, according to the government’s press-office. According to him, rescue works have been started in 10 minutes after explosion. We need 3-4 days more to remove heaps of a destroyed house.
Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych commissioned to investigate the fact how the gas service had responded to the citizens’ calls warning about gas smell in apartments. In particular, investigation will check the call recording of the citizens. Viktor Yanukovych also commissioned to examine plausibility of some inhabitants’ information that machineries which arrived to the explosion place had no fuel.
The Commission has considered the local authorities measures aimed at providing temporarily dwelling for the victims. They will be settled, in particular, in the hotels “Sport” and “Dnipropetrovsk” and provided with three meals a day.
During the sitting the Commission considered preliminary reasons which had resulted in gas explosion. According to the representatives of the “Dnipropetrovskmiskgas”, a damper between the networks of average and low gas pressure failed to function at the gas-distributing substation.
As a result of explosion 5 thousand apartments remained without electricity and gas.
Viktor Yanukovych commissioned to examine other gas-distributing substations of Dnipropetrovsk and if examination does not reveal damages to resume gas and electricity supply. Recovery work are planned to be completed in two weeks.
According to the outcomes of the sitting the Prime Minister has commissioned to prepare a Government resolution on allocation of funds aimed at buying dwellings for suffered inhabitants of the destroyed house. “On Monday this resolution will be approved and funds transferred to Dnipropetrovsk”. The inhabitants will have an opportunity to choose between money and apartment.
