A regular eighth rotation of the personnel and materiel of the 56th detached helicopter squadron of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, fulfilling tasks of the UN Mission in Liberia, begins on 15 November.

According to the press-service of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine, late in the evening the first group of Ukrainian peacekeepers, including 98 people will take off from Sknyliv air base in Lviv for the African continent.

The rotation will involve four stages. In the course of the first three stages – on 15, 19, and 29 November, 300 military men will be replaced. At the first stage, scheduled for 10 December, two Mi-8MT helicopters of the squadron will be replaced.

The peacemakers of the new rotation were trained during four months at the basis of the detached army aircraft regiment of the Land Forces of Ukraine 13th army corps.

Commander of the 56th detached squadron is colonel Andriy Kogut, who has experience of fulfilling peacemaking tasks in Sierra-Leone and Liberia.
