On Monday honorary head of Zasyadko Mine OJSC Yukhym Zvyahilskiy claimed he was ready to close the enterprise, according to Delo newspaper of 20 November. “I cannot give any explanations to the accident that has happened. If such a big number of people perishes, and the reason is unknown, then, probably, this mine really must be closed”, Zvyahilskiy said after a sitting of the state commission for investigation into reasons of the accident, which took place at the mine on the night of 18 November.
According to Yu.Zvyahilskiy, the mine received significant financing to provide secure technology of mining. At the same time, he agrees that the final conclusion about reasons of the accident may be drawn up only after the commission finishes the investigation.
