Gazprom, the Russian monopoly that is main supplier of natural gas to Ukraine and Europe,  informed on Jan 4 that it will charge US $ 179.5 per thousand cubic meters for gas supplies to Ukraine in 2008, according to News Central Asia.

The decision came during a meeting Tuesday between Gazprom CEO Alexi Miller and Ukrainian minister for fuel and energy, Yury Boyko, in Moscow.

Gazprom told that transit charges would be US $ 1.7 (per 1000 cubic meters per 100 kilometers) for Ukraine in Russian territory and for Russia in Ukrainian territory.
